When I wake up, I am thankful for the new day and confident in my ability to manage the tasks I must do that day. I effectively manage my work and home life so that everything runs smoothly.
I get a sense of satisfaction out of knowing that I can succeed on my own. My self-sufficiency gives me independence and allows me to live my life according to my ideals.
Because I am making it on my own, I maintain reasonable expectations of others.
If I need to have something fixed around the house, I hire a true professional rather than burdening a friend. I know that everyone has families and responsibilities. Everyone deserves a little downtime.
I understand that my responsibilities are mine alone. I rely on myself and get the job done effectively because I am confident in my ability to succeed. I prosper through my own efforts and take responsibility for my life.
Surprisingly, because I assess each situation with a strong dose of realism, I am happier than ever! It is difficult to disappoint me, because I continually remind myself to expect from others only what they can and should realistically give me!
Today, I celebrate my own success. I take the time to remember each victory, and those victories fuel my confidence. Because I am victorious, I express a willingness to accept others and set my expectations of others at a realistic level.
Self-Reflection Questions:
1. Do I rely on myself in most situations to provide for my needs?
2. Do I set myself up for disappointment by expecting too much from others?
3. How can I learn to set more realistic expectations?
