I am proud of my spiritual, moral, and political beliefs. They help form an inner core that supports my unshakeable belief in myself. I am also aware that not everyone shares my views on these subjects, and that’s okay! I feel perfectly fine about their disagreement.
I refrain from passing judgment on others. Who am I to tell another person, “Your beliefs are wrong?” I respect the opinions of others as I expect mine to be honored in the same manner.
I practice my faith because it is my choice. If someone practices another religion or no religion at all, it is their prerogative to do so. Even if I disagree with their choices, I agree with the fact that they should have a choice. I banish any thoughts of badgering them about their religious choices, or lack thereof.
Freedom is my friend because it inevitably leads to acceptance. Even when I am very different from someone else, the freedom to be who we are truly has a harmonious effect.
Today, I accept others for who they are and look past the specifics of what they believe. I honor our freedom by seeking ways in which we are alike, instead of focusing on how we may be different.
Self-Reflection Questions:
1. Do I look at the personalities of others or their religious or political beliefs?
2. How can I open my mind to accepting others with opposing beliefs?
3. Have I ever pre-judged someone negatively and been proven to be wrong?
